Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist with the monthly close process and with preparation and analysis of the monthly, quarterly and annual transportation financial reports
  • Prepare journal entries and accruals
  • Monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Freight vendor account resolution
  • Liaison between Freight pay audit company and carriers
  • Preparation of supporting documentation for financial statements
  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly reports for management
  • Research and provide conclusions on freight contracts/auditing of accounts and payments
  • Reconciliation of operations department hours, productivity reporting and analysis daily, monthly, quarterly and annual
  • Prepare other ad hoc reports as required
  • Additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience), preferably in Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 2 years of relevant work experience (in addition to degree or years of previous experience)
  • Intermediate proficiency level within MS Excel (V-lookups, formulas, filtering, sorting, formatting)
  • Intermediate proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of financial management applications such as PeopleSoft
  • Analytical Skills: Able to explore information, data, and reports, and other items in order to identify issues and extract meaningful insights, which can be used to better understand and improve business performance.
  • Collaboration: Able to develop cooperation and teamwork while participating in a group, working toward solutions which generally benefit all involved parties. Able to build relationships with others by offering help and providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Initiative: Able to identify opportunities & issues and follow through on work activities to capitalize or resolve them. Able to learn quick, take positive, innovative action without being requested to do so.
