Position Summary: Commercial Service Technician

As a Service Technician, you will play a critical part within the Service Department.  You will be the face of the company with our clients, providing support and ensuring the AV systems installed are working at optimal performance. You will effectively and efficiently execute AVDG service calls, attend to escalated client needs, and assist with operational requirements, projects, and other duties and tasks.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Servicing and troubleshooting of home automation systems including distributed video, audio, and control systems
  • Provide training to clients on the use of AV systems
  • Make preventative maintenance visits to maintain client systems
  • Deliver service tasks in a timely and quality-conscious manner
  • Retrofit cabling with minimal to no structural damage, equipment rack building, and wiring.
  • Basic Network Troubleshooting
  • Troubleshooting of Security Cameras and NVR / DVR
  • Loading control systems code either locally or remotely (AMX, Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron)
  • Work with the programming environment of AMX, Crestron, Savant, and Lutron to perform code updates or code troubleshooting
  • Interface directly with clients or client representatives to determine issue(s) and effectively communicate resolution
  • Provide detailed reporting at the conclusion of each service call for record-keeping
  • Occasional travel may be required dependent on business needs

join our band, you'll need the following experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years of audio/visual technician/service experience in residential environment.
  • Must have Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and web applications is required.
  • Knowledge of standard networking practices, configurations, and functions
  • Comfortable troubleshooting various networking and wireless issues
  • Able to create patch cables/network cables 
  • Familiarity with Apple iOS products (Apple TV, iPad, Airport Express, iPhone/iTouch, etc.) as they relate to daily use for interfacing with and controlling integrated homes and/or home networks is required.
  • Must be able to navigate around PC, file structures, the control panel, and command line prompts.
  • Must have a full understanding of the pre-wire, trim and final phases of a project, including proper use of all associated tools and job site safety
  • Must have the ability to read and understand device layout drawings, and engineered schematics and provide redline corrections and construction blueprints as they pertain to the A/V industry.
  • Familiarity with basic home construction best practices is required.

 Pay Rate: $60,720.00 - $80,960/annually depending on background and experience. 

This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.
