Position Summary: Event Marketing Manager

The Event Marketing Manager position works closely with the Director, Content, Social and Artists to plan, execute and measure marketing events designed to drive omnichannel traffic, customer acquisition, and awareness as well as vendor participation and sponsorship for the Guitar Center Brand. The Manager, Event Marketing defines the omnichannel (web/store) and marketing event strategy and works to execute against said strategy, working closely with the Store Operations, Retail Marketing, and e-commerce teams.

Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Drive major retail and market event strategy, planning and in coordination and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including:
    • Disruptive Brand Events annually
    • Large event opportunities with music lifestyle brand, media partnerships, and music festivals etc.
    • Annual Store Grand Openings
    • Category-specific events
    • Vendor activations and vendor-specific events, in-store and online including, but not limited to talent appearances, workshops, Store-in-Store, and demos
  • Develop and maintain the national event calendar in support of overall omnichannel brand objectives
    • Include proposed events and budget needs for the upcoming year on annual planning cadence
    • Forecast, measure, analyze and report the impact of marketing event programs throughout the year
    • Manage the annual events budget with planned calendars and regular cost forecasts and actuals reporting
    • Demonstrate ROI of event investments in real measurable terms (sales, margin, store and web traffic, impressions)
  • Drive local event strategy and guidance
    • Create criteria for local store / RVP event investments that:
      • Benefits the overall sales accomplishment of the store
      • Drives traffic / new customers
      • Helps the store in the community/philanthropy
      • Aligns with local social media strategy
    • Create general activation tool kits and Do's / Don'ts
    • Build and maintain ongoing communications with business owners and field teams to share best practices and program ideas
    • Coach and counsel RVPs and DMs on their local activations outside of major retail events
  • Collaborate with Content & Social stakeholders for strategic coverage and promotion of the events
  • Partner with Artist team and relevant MI vendors to ensure featured talent aligns with brand artist strategy and to ensure flawless talent participation at the event
  • Constantly monitor event activities' sales achievement and recommend strategies to positively affect outcomes and improve the efficacy of event
  • Actively communicate throughout the organization (all necessary components) and project manage all aspects of major retail and market events, vendor partnership events, including written plans, calendars, timelines, deliverables, budget planning, and tracking.
  • Additional duties as assigned

To join our band, you'll need the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience), preferably in Marketing or related
  • 5 years of event experience
  • 5 years of marketing planning and or project management
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of key marketing metrics (ROI, CPO, AOV, CPA,)
  • Intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Powerpoint, Xcel, and Word

Pay Rate: $80,000- $95,000/yr depending on background and experience. This position is eligible to participate in the Guitar Center Company bonus program based on Company performance.
