PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Retail Store Designer creates new floor plans and new prototype designs, and also coordinates the efforts of outside architects for new stores, remodels and other capital projects.  The role includes coordination with internal and external stakeholders, building departments, and management of the municipal and landlord approval process.

With the supervision of the Sr. Retail Store Designer, the Retail Store Designer creates floor plans for new stores, remodels, and retrofits.  This role is responsible for coordinating the flow of information with internal stakeholders, outside architects and engineers, building departments, including the municipal and landlord approval process.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Store Design
    • Create new floor plans, renderings, relocations, remodels, and store improvement projects.
    • Review/redline drawings to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards & specifications.
    • Review relevant lease exhibits, due diligence reports, and other documents to ensure projects are delivered consistent with all requirements.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. project planning, floor plan design review, floor plan approval, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating project activities and providing/receiving information.
  • Maintain work records and files (e.g. architectural plans, material samples, inspections, job-related communications, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation as may be required for future reference and/or adhering to regulatory requirements.
  • Vendor Management
    • Coordinate design and document production of all outside architects and engineers
    • Maintain liaison relationships with architects, contractors, regulatory agency personnel, etc. for the purpose of ensuring efficiency in project sequence of activities.
  • Presentation and Reporting
    • Communicate timely and effectively with all interested parties on all matters relevant to ongoing projects
    • Prepare materials and drawings for presentation to management
    • Prepare status reports for project updates to department management
  • Project Planning
    • Gather necessary input from internal stakeholders on all projects.
    • Coordinate scope of work and timelines, collaborate on project budgets.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or 4 years of equivalent work experience), preferably in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
  • 3 years of relevant work experience (in addition to degree or years of previous experience)
  • Intermediate understanding of laws, codes and requirements applicable to the Store Design function
  • Intermediate proficiency in reading architectural and engineering documents
  • Intermediate proficiency in the use of AutoCAD
  • Intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

Pay Rate: $65,200- $75,000/yr depending on background and experience.
