Basic Function:  

Provide support to the Logistics Team, managing the flow of cartons from our DC’s to the pool network carriers for delivery to our stores. Manage all claims processes and compile reports through GC systems as needed. Communicate with our stores and Guitar Center Pool Providers daily.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Owns the end-to-end claims management function; research and file missing and damaged carton claims, negotiate with Pooler(s) management for settlements and funds collection.
  • Research and provide disposition to pool carriers on no label and misrouted exception cartons
  • Communicate and interact daily with store operations, DC’s, Freight Payment and corporate inventory control on claims issues and other projects as assigned
  • Track claims data by pool market and notify on potential trends.
  • Work with Pool Network Manager as liaison between pool carriers and stores on delivery schedules/issues and processes/best practices
  • Store and manage daily outbound BOL’s per industry regulations.
  • Ability to accomplish and act as a back-up for all Transportation functions.
  • Contact Pool carriers to obtain information for shipments.
  • Maintain Logistics files as necessary.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Transportation Managers.
  • Travel occasionally to new pool carrier locations for start-ups.
  • Must be responsible for making independent decision.
  • Research and resolve Pool carrier issues
  • Associates Degree with several years’ experience in transportation or distribution operations; OR Bachelor’s Degree
  • Must be computer literate and have strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PKMS, SmartInfo, Outlook and Descartes/Bearware; working knowledge of and/or capacity to quickly learn
  • Ability to become Scanning software (Bearware) subject-matter-expert within Transportation Team
  • Must have flexibility to cross train on all Logistics functions and adapt work schedule when needed to support the team.
  • Must possess a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency when entering data.
  • Must be proactive in problem solving; demonstrated initiative with strong sense of urgency and teamwork.
  • Must be able to speak and write professionally when dealing with stores and carriers.
  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude and support for company goals.
  • Working knowledge of DC flow and functions.
