Job Description

We are looking for a senior Retail Applications Engineer with expertise in Multivalue and Pick Basic software engineering -- and deep experience of retail, omnichannel POS, microservices, APIs, cloud technologies. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Provide systems development lifecycle functions analysis, architecture, design, software development (including coding, testing, documentation, and implementation), and maintenance of both new and existing software applications.    
  • Provide database management functions, and responsible for data integrity of all the relevant databases. 
  • Responsible for tracking/reporting of time spent on projects or tasks and communicating this information to supervisor. 
  • Support application interfaces to/from AIX servers. 
  • Provide mentoring, leadership to other developers and support staff in project execution. 
  • Provide on-call support functions as needed. Liaison to third party vendors of responsible applications. Primary on-call once per month. 
  • Provide additional support functions in terms of monitoring critical application processes, schedule processes, user processes.   
  • Respond to critical alerts in a timely manner. 
  • Provide “end-user” support as necessary.   
  • Responsible for self-managing delivery of assigned tasks. 
  • Communicate effectively with the end users to understand issues or to take new requests.

Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum 10 years experience in architecture, design, development and support of Universe/Pick/Multivalue applications. 
  • Minimum 10 years experience in database administration and support of Universe or other Multivalue databases. 
  • 7+ years working experience in UNIX, AIX, LINUX operating systems environments. Strong working knowledge of AIX/UNIX basic commands. 
  • Leverage working knowledge of the following technologies for development: 
  • Rocket External Database Access (EDA) 
  • Rocket Replication subsystems 
  • General Calling Interface 
  • Performing Multivalue application build processes 
  • C, C++ programming constructs 
  • .NET frameworks 
  • XML, JSON 
  • HA/DR architecture and operations 
  • 2+ years working experience using UniObjects 
  • Proven track record of project delivery and solutions designs. 
  • Participate in off-hours support rotation schedule. 
  • Must have good documentation skills.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Visio, Word, etc) 
  • Must be able to display professionalism in all dealings with users and peers. 
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a broad range of audiences, including management staff, department staff, and external vendors and customers. 
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time in a fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. 
  • Must maintain positive attitude and be self-motivated to achieve consistent high performance results. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • 6+ years experience working in Retail POS systems. 
  • Knowledge of Payment system interfaces for credit card processing. 
  • Working experience in programming, coding in support of POS peripherals and other devices such as printers. 
  • Versed in multiple development languages is preferredWorking knowledge of Java, C, C# is a plus. 

Pay Rate: $100,000 - $150,000 / annually depending on background and experience.
