Position Overview 

 

BASIC FUNCTION: Receive, inspect, and evaluate returned products within the RTV operation. Log and report all diagnostic results to Vendors and Private Brands group. Respond to customer and store inquiries on merchandise function and warranty, as well as fulfill any part requests. Provide general distribution processing functions for the Returns department as needed. Responsible for the labeling, scanning, packing, and movement of product.

 

 

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

 

• Receive, inspect, and put away returned products from retail stores.
• Diagnose all possible failures of equipment under established warranty guidelines by performing tests on product returned from the stores.
• Effectively communicate to store operations concerning transfer of Defective Warranty Merchandise to the DC.
• Communicate with Private Brands group and Vendors to ensure that proper testing methods are being utilized to ensure only Defective Warranty Merchandise is being returned to them.
• Responsible for maintaining safety and housekeeping standards in the department, including work area clean-up and sweeping.
• Must demonstrate flexibility to work in other production areas as determined by work volume.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned by area supervisor.

 

Skills and Abilities
• Must be able to read and write English and perform simple arithmetic.
• Must have aptitude to work with computer systems. (Green Screen inventory control system including the ability to research product history, Smart Info)
• Must possess a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency when entering data.
• Must be well organized and able to address changing priorities.
• Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Able to effectively communicate detailed information over the telephone and/or computer system.
• Must have strong focus on quality.
• Must have excellent customer service focus when completing tasks that impact the retail store of the vendors.
• Must demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must have a strong understanding of the set up and operation of DJ, Lighting, Pro-Audio, Recording, Keyboard, Guitar, Drum, and Accessories carried by Guitar Center.
• Must have a positive attitude and demonstrate support for company goals.

 

 

Education / Experience Requirements
• Prior warehouse experience preferred.
• Must have PC experience including Excel and Word; able to set up and enter data in requested formats.

• Must be able to use a computer and mouse.
• Continuous mental and/or visual attention; the work requires constant alertness in a warehouse environment.
• Able to stand for long periods of time and work in hot conditions during summer months.
• The noise level is moderate.
• Able to lift 10-30 lbs on a frequent basis.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
• The physical demand typically applied in this job includes: lifting, pulling, reaching, carrying, pushing, standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
• Must be flexible to working overtime, which is sometimes mandatory.
